Le chantier arch\u00e9ologique de Grand est ouvert \u00e0 la visite du lundi au vendredi, de 9h \u00e0 18 h, jusqu\u2019au 28 juillet. Ce chantier se situe \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 de la mosa\u00efque et de la basilique.<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/p>\n
Les premi\u00e8res investigations arch\u00e9ologiques dans cette parcelle remontent \u00e0 1966. En 1968, Jacques Guillaume reprend ces recherches et met en \u00e9vidence un petit b\u00e2timent antique dot\u00e9 de deux salles. Les objets mis au jour sont assez divers : peintures murales, c\u00e9ramiques sigill\u00e9es, d\u00e9 en os, cruches en terre blanche de l\u2019Allier, amphores et monnaies de l\u2019Empereur Auguste (-27 \/ 14), Faustine II et Marc-Aur\u00e8le (161-180).<\/p>\n
Les probl\u00e9matiques de recherche<\/h3>\n
Le site du Grand Jardin demeure le seul habitat connu dans l\u2019emprise de la fortification d\u2019une superficie totale d\u2019environ 18 hectares. La datation propos\u00e9e dans les ann\u00e9es 1990 (Ier-IIe si\u00e8cles) est en relation avec l\u2019hypoth\u00e8se d\u2019une enceinte de prestige dont la fonction principale serait de prot\u00e9ger les b\u00e2timents publics, et notamment la source situ\u00e9e au centre de l\u2019agglom\u00e9ration antique.<\/p>\n
Plus de 50 ans apr\u00e8s les premi\u00e8res investigations, ces nouvelles recherches visent \u00e0 tester cette hypoth\u00e8se en pr\u00e9cisant l\u2019extension de ce site arch\u00e9ologique, sa fonction et sa datation.<\/p>\n
D\u2019ores et d\u00e9j\u00e0, les arch\u00e9ologues ont mis en \u00e9vidence plusieurs \u00e9tats de construction et plusieurs orientations qui laissent supposer une occupation de plusieurs si\u00e8cles. La pr\u00e9sence de peintures murales, ainsi que leur diversit\u00e9, confirment le soin apport\u00e9 \u00e0 la d\u00e9coration de ce b\u00e2timent.<\/p>\n
Ces recherches sont r\u00e9alis\u00e9es dans le cadre du Projet collectif de recherche sur l\u2019agglom\u00e9ration antique de Grand conduit par le Conseil d\u00e9partemental des Vosges avec le soutien financier du minist\u00e8re de la Culture (DRAC Grand Est). L\u2019\u00e9quipe de b\u00e9n\u00e9voles est constitu\u00e9e d\u2019une vingtaine d\u2019\u00e9tudiants des universit\u00e9s de Nancy et de Strasbourg.<\/p>\n
